Why 'Spa' is in the name
The spa keeps the ridge's cold at bay the way the fireplaces do. After a slow wrap, the dry heat of the sauna and a long soak in the hot tub, the chill of the hills leaves the bones. Guests come out loose and glowing, ready for a chair by the fire while the mist settles outside.
The couples' treatment room
Two beds side by side under hand-painted panels of birds and blossom. Treatments and prices are set seasonally, and the desk will send the current menu.
The outdoor pool
Laid out in front of the house, with stone figures pouring fountains into it along one side and white swans at the far corner.
The games room
Foosball, a chess table and a piano mat on the floor, under a mural of a cartoon ship, the MAYFAIR Voyage, with toys and teddy bears for the youngest guests.
